Brushes, Grass, Noodles and Vanity Fair.

Journal Entry: Sun May 10, 2009, 9:51 AM
I've just been having a lot of fun creating some cool Illustrator brushes. Repeating pattern brushes can be a pain to make but when you get it right it is a powerful tool to have in your toolbox. The more I do, the more I learn. I also did a few tutorials on realistic grass and that gave me some inspiration to try my hand at it. I just love the versatility that CS4 gives me now. I'm also learning how much I don't know about Corel X4. It's funny considering I first started learning vector art on Corel 3.0. I've pretty much forgotten how to do anything in Corel. It's a great program but I've been assimilated to Illustrator's keyboard shortcuts and Corel's are completely different.

I had a blast creating my latest work for the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster [link] I just get a kick out of farting around with designs until I get something that makes me smile.

Speaking of making me smile, last month I was contacted by Vanity Fair UK. They wanted to know if I was the artist that created the Counterfeit President art [link] At first I thought it was a spam email but it turns out they wanted me to do some currency art for their August issue. I just completed work on it last week and can't wait till I can post the art I did for them.

I made a few comments on individual pieces, but your gallery has blown my mind! check out my design portfolio ([link] I'm still adding to it) and let me know what you think

Hi Jerry,

congratulations for your great work. I "borrowed" your BSG currency design, here's the link:

If I should remove it, send an email.

BTW: I've got a good friend in Cocoa Beach and every time I visit him I drive through Cocoa...

Greetings from Germany

Never give up - Never surrender!
Hi from Florida Dietrich!

I don't have a problem with using these as long as they aren't being sold. I don't own the rights to the BSG stuff and it was just done as fan art. The design is mine but all the logo and art rights belong to the show's producers and studio.
